Use case

Split shared costs, to the cent.

Not everybody joined every activity and not every split is equal. Penny Monet lets you choose the people involved per expense and the method that fits.

Three methods

Choose how to split

Equal shares

Divide by the number of selected people. Leftover cents go to the selected people in a fixed, visible order.

Fixed amounts

Enter an amount per person. The sum may not exceed the expense; the rest stays visible.

Percentages

Percentages apply to the amount after any share for the group, and are converted exactly to cents.

Group share

Part for the people, part for the group.

Sometimes the group pays part of a cost itself, for example a subsidy towards the team outing. Give that part explicitly to the group; the rest is split over the people.

Before saving, Penny Monet shows the exact outcome. Splitting can be changed later; existing payments and offsets stay linked to the right person, and a share can’t go below what has already been settled.

Splitting an expected cost in advance creates no debt yet. The shares become real only when the cost does.

Try a split in the example.

Enter an amount, pick people and a method, and see the exact shares.
