Use case

Who still has to pay what?

Contributions from members, expense claims the group has to repay, invoices from suppliers. Penny Monet keeps every obligation as its own item, with its own status, until it is settled.

Obligations

Three directions

Members to the group

A contribution or a share in a cost. Shown under Due in the member’s overview.

Group to members

An accepted expense claim or a payout. Shown under Receivable for the member and under Reserved for the group.

Group to suppliers

An unpaid invoice. A supplier from the address book is linked before it is paid.

Status

Open, partly paid, completed.

Every item shows its status with a sign: ○ open, partly paid, ✓ completed. Partial payments are fine. Paying more than is open is refused: change the agreement first or record the extra money separately.

  • Review before it counts: a submitted claim isn’t an obligation until accepted
  • A rejected claim keeps its reason and creates no debt
  • The recipient can confirm a payment was received
