Use case
Settle up, on the record.
People pay each other the usual way: cash or a bank transfer. Penny Monet records it, lets the recipient confirm it and keeps the history.

Ways to settle
Four tools
Payment
Settles one open item, in full or in part.
ContributionsReceipt confirmation
The recipient confirms whether the money arrived.
How it worksSettlement round
Turns a Splitpot’s open amounts into payment items between people.
SplitpotsOffset
Sets one credit against one debt of the same person.
OffsettingQuestions about settling
Can one payment settle several items?
No. One payment settles one item, which keeps every amount traceable. Partial payments on one item are fine.
What if the recipient says the money didn’t arrive?
That is recorded, but changes no amounts and creates no new debt. The people involved sort it out and correct the payment if needed.
Can I undo an offset?
Yes, through a correction. Both items reopen and the original offset stays in the history.
